OUR JOURNEY

Stay the course no matter what your health and wellness situation is at this VERY moment!
I did not plan on becoming a sole eater of plants-the journey found me. It will transform you physically, mentally, spiritually and you will feel as amazing as I do. Enjoy the journey & thanks for reading!

During the last quarter of 2016 I came across the work and teachings of the world-renowned Honduran born, self-educated Holistic Herbalist, Healer, Pathologist and Biochemist by the name of Alfredo Darrington Bowman aka Dr. Sebi. I had never heard of this man or his work. I continued to immerse myself into this new world by reading, watching videos, and following the testimonials. There was a huge difference between me and well- “them” …. they were practicing and following his teachings and living the lifestyle by simply consuming specifically chosen high-mineral content alkaline plants & spring water! You were only to consume specific ancient grains/ seeds/ grass, nuts, oils, herbs, and teas…all of which were listed for you on a simple 8 ½ x 11 tri-fold leaflet referred to as The Nutritional Guide.

I was intrigued that anyone could survive on a list of 95 or so items but in hindsight I was essentially surviving on the same 7 or so staple ingredients daily (corn, potato, wheat, soy, dairy, sugar, rice, etc.). How could I possibly survive on foods I never knew existed AND where would I find these foods? Could I survive being an Herbivore? I had no idea Quinoa, Amaranth (callaloo) and Teff were seeds! I had never even seen a hemp seed! Wild Rice, Rye and Fonio were grass! AND…what the heck was Spelt & Kamut anyway? I laugh at these things now, but it goes to show how little the average human knows about real food versus junk food. In December 2016 I mentally “decided” to leave my Pescatarian life behind and join the millions of “plant eating only” humans and as of January 2020, I have never looked back! Did I stumble at times? Yes, but never with meat/ seafood. Did I want to revert to my old ways at times? Yes, early on.

Transitioning was not overly difficult for me…the challenge was not being able to find the required foods for my journey. I also had no idea how to cook some of these foods since I had never made anything using these ingredients-this quickly passed as I started putting my own twist on things, but the grocery dilemma remained. I found a wonderful group of like-minded plant eaters and began helping, coaching, and teaching others what I was taught. I still move with the same tribe of people I began my journey with in 2016, I give back by educating others and I will continue to give back and serve the masses. In life, you MUST give back-you cannot have a “take only” mentality.
